Drowning in dumajug, lapu
A 24-year-old man drowned while his friend is in critical condition after they went swimming last Sunday in barangay Looc, Dumanjug town, south Cebu.
Claudio Blanco did not make it alive when he was rushed to the Barili District Hospital while his friend Jordan Nacion, 18, was transferred to a Cebu City hospital.
Police said the victims, who did not know how to swim, were having a drinking spree with neighbors along the shoreline and jumped into the water during high tide.
Friends tried to rescue the men who struggled in the water.
In Lapu-Lapu City, a 37-year-old man was found dead by fishermen in the seawaters of Sulpa Island yesterday morning.
Police said there was no sign of foul play in the death of Jesus Jumao-as of barangay Sta. Rosa in Olango Island. The victim’s father said Jesus was born with a mental disability.
Police said the victim told his father Eleuterio “I will be gone soon” after he was scolded by his parent last Thursday.
Jumao-as was last seen heading to the shore Sunday evening. He was found with a scratch in the forehead, which police said may have been caused by sharp stones underwater./correspondent gabriel bonjoc, norman medoza
Kalunasan shooting
Police said they had under their custody the woman who allegedly provided the gun to the suspect who shot dead an 18-year-old and hurt two others in barangay Kalunasan last Sunday.
Police said witnesses identified the woman, whom they refuse to name.
Police investigation revealed that a certain Frank Simon “Hanky” Ibon shot dead Raul Ragasajo and wounded two others during a benefit dance.
The victim’s cousin Brendo, 21, and Winjun Murillo, 18, are recuperating in a Cebu City hospital.
