UV overpowers UC

Games today:

Cebu Coliseum

5 p.m. – Lion Tiger-USJ-R vs. Kia Motors-CIT-U

6:45 p.m. – San Marino-USPF vs. Prime Asia-UV

The Prime Asia-University of the Visayas Green Lancers once again showed that they are heads and shoulders above the competition as they destroyed the Gaisano Tisa-University of Cebu Webmasters, 112-84, in the 6th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. Partner’s Cup, last Sunday at the Cebu Coliseum.

With a shallow field devoid of such powerhouses as Southwestern University and the University of San Carlos, the Green Lancers continue to be the cream of the crop as they wrapped up their first round with a whooping of the once-formidable Webmasters, for their fourth win in as many games. The loss dropped Gaisano to a 1-3 (win-loss) record.

Wowie Escosio and Vincent Mendoza each had 16 to pace the winners while two other big men had a field day as Chris Perolino tallied 13 and Raffy Octobre added 12. Noel Villanueva led Gaisano with 15  while Brian Heruela chipped in 12 markers.

Prime Asia tries to do more of the same today as the second round of the eliminations start with the Lancers taking on the winless San Marino Corned Tuna-University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers in the main game at 6:45 p.m.

In the first game, the second-running Lion Tiger Aerosol-University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars hope to keep in step with Prime Asia as they tackle the Kia Motors-Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats. Lion Tiger hold a 3-1 record while Kia is at an even 2-2.
