MANILA, Philippines — A search and rescue operation was launched after two motorized boats carrying 11 passengers capsized off Roxas town in Palawan.
The Naval Forces West said it deployed Thursday multipurpose helicopter AW109-NH434 to search for the passengers whose boats overturned near Ilian Bay on Wednesday evening.
“The aircraft’s mission plays a pivotal role in assessing the vast maritime area, gathering critical information, and coordinating with rescue teams on the ground,” the Navy said in a statement on Thursday night.
The Navy said various agencies were helping the rescue team, but they still encountered some difficulties.
