Filipino fishers harassed by China Coast Guard – PCG

The Chinese Coast Guard tried to drive away Filipino fishermen in Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea early this month, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Sunday, with videos of the supposed harassment making the rounds on social media during the weekend.

PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela told the Inquirer that the videos were taken by fisherman Jack Tabat from Zambales, who witnessed the incident in Bajo de Masinloc on Jan. 12.

Gasoline, diesel prices to increase by up to P1.30 per liter

For the third straight week, local oil companies will increase the prices of gasoline and diesel on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

In separate advisories, the oil firms announced an increase of P1.30 per liter in the pump price of gasoline and 95 centavos per liter for diesel. The price of kerosene is unchanged.

ICC in PH last Dec; arrest order vs Duterte soon – Trillanes

Investigators from the International Criminal Court (ICC) were able to gather enough evidence against former President Rodrigo Duterte when they visited the country in December, and a warrant of arrest may be issued “very, very soon,” former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said on Sunday.

“Based on my information, the ICC [investigators] have done what they needed to do in their initial investigation inside the country as far as the principal accused are concerned,” Trillanes told the Inquirer in a text message.
