MANILA, Philippines — An estimated 6,000 devotees participated in the solemn dawn procession of the image of the child Jesus Christ Senor Sto. Nino or Lakbayaw along the streets of Tondo, Manila, on Sunday, according to police.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said around 800 devotees joined the procession for the Feast of Sto. Niño around 4:50 a.m.
The crowd swelled to around 3,500 the procession made its way to Asuncion, Morga, Juan Luna, Pritil, Herbosa and J. Nolasco streets.
Participants reached 3,000 at Herbosa St. and 3,500 as it nears the church along J. Nolasco St.
The MPD later reported that around 6,000 devotees joined the procession which ended at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Niño – Tondo at around 7:00 a.m.
