MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) is studying the possibility of some state universities and colleges (SUCs) continuing to offer senior high school subjects so they can serve as “feeder schools” for the courses they offer.
CHEd Chair Prospero de Vera III cited as examples SUCs specializing in engineering or maritime courses offering subjects under a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics strand for one to two years to boost learning and competence.
But De Vera said the SUCs must first seek CHEd approval. The official also said that the Department of Education and CHEd would continue to issue tuition subsidy vouchers to Grade 11 students and that they would be allowed to enroll in Grade 12 for academic year 2024 to 2025.
