MANILA, Philippines — Six crew members and passengers of a boat owned by the National Power Corporation (NPC) were rescued off Romblon after a technical issue, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Thursday.

The PCG said that the three crew members and three NPC personnel of  the motor banca NPC Spug-3 were rescued off Barangay Poblacion in San Agustin town.

“While underway, the motorbanca’s rudder was detached, causing a loss of propulsion,” the PCG said in a statement.

The PCG’s search and rescue team towed the NPC Spug-3 to San Agustin Port.

The motor banca was originally bound for Simara Island, Romblon.
