LUCENA CITY — A construction worker stabbed and killed an alleged robber early Tuesday, Jan. 16, in self-defense inside a private cemetery in Tayabas City, Quezon province.

The Quezon police reported that the worker identified as alias “Christian,” 23, was awakened at 2:40 a.m. and saw five unidentified men trying to take speed cutter and mixer machines from a mausoleum under construction that he was also guarding.

One of the suspects shot Christian using an airgun, hitting him on his head. To protect himself, the worker, armed with a bolo, stabbed the suspect in his neck, killing him instantly.

Concerned villagers took Christian to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The four other robbers fled after the incident and are now the subject of a police manhunt.
