MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall may still occur in several areas in Mindanao on Tuesday due to the effects of the shear line, state meteorologists said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) advisory showed that cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may happen in Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao Region.

“Because we have experienced consecutive rains during the past few days, we are advising our compatriots to take caution because flooding and landslides are possible due to moderate and, at times, heavy rainfall,” weather specialist Rhea Torres said during an early morning report.

Pagasa also issued a Yellow Rainfall Alert for Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Surigao del Sur at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. A Yellow Rainfall Alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall ranging from 7.5 millimeters (mm) to 15 mm within one hour.

For the rest of Mindanao, fair weather conditions may prevail despite some chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon and the evening, according to Torres.
