Tesda celebrate Trainees’ Day
Cebuanos were treated to a job fair, specialists free services, launching of Mobile Training Vans, awarding of scholarships and skills demonstration last May 4.
The event, dubbed Trainees’ Day, was organized by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) at the University of Cebu-Maritime Education Training Center (UC-METC).
The event was graced by Tesda Secretary General Joey Villanueva, together with Tesda 7 Regional Director Rosanna Urdaneta and other officials.
Nine buses cum classrooms from partner schools were launched as part of Tesda’s “Adopt A Barangay Program,” which gives scholarship grants on skills training to selected barangay residents.
Instead of the students going to the schools, these buses will visit scholarship-recipient barangays in Cebu for the skills training designed under the program.
Villanueva encouraged colleges and universities to apply for Tesda accreditation in order to qualify for the scholarships and other existing and future programs of the agency.
