Woman kayaker allegedly drowns in Mabini, Batangas

LUCENA CITY – A 40-year-old woman drowned in the sea off Mabini town in Batangas while kayaking on Saturday, January 13.

Batangas police reported on Sunday, January 14 that the body of Loren Maravillo was found by the crew of a passing sea vessel around 8 a.m. in the waters off Barangay San Teodoro.

Maravillo was 40 years old and a resident of Antipolo city in Rizal.

Investigators said the victim went kayaking with her dog early morning without a life vest.

The body of the victim will be subjected to a post-mortem examination and autopsy to determine the cause of her death.

Police recorded the incident as a case of “drowning.”

The report does not have details on the plight of the dog.
