MANILA, Philippines — Mayor Abby Binay on Wednesday said that her office is studying to lower real property tax and other local taxes in Makati City “to create a more business-friendly environment” and maintain economic development in the city.

“To our partners in the business community, your steadfast support has been integral to our city’s growth. In recognition of this, I have ordered a comprehensive review on the possibility of lowering the Real Property Tax and other local taxes,” Binay said during her 8th State of the City Address at the Rotary Club of Makati.

The mayor also noted the timeliness of this move, revealing that a total of P7.9 billion worth of savings will pile up every year following the removal of subsidies supposedly allocated to the Embo barangays that are now part of Taguig.

Aside from taxes, Binay also revealed her office’s key projects for the first six months of this year, including the full opening of Makati Life Medical Center’s doors to the public.

“Makati Life Medical Center represents more than just a healthcare facility; it is a concrete symbol of our city’s dedication to the health and well-being of every Makatizen. This hospital stands for our commitment to delivering advanced, quality healthcare. We ensure that every resident of Makati has access to top-tier medical services,” the official said.

Moreover, Binay also announced the opening of Makati Columbarium and a fire and police station.
