MANILA, Philippines — The image of the Black Nazarene finally arrived at Quiapo Church from the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila, on Tuesday night.

The procession culminated at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, popularly known as Quiapo Church.

The image was back in the church at 7:45 pm.

The procession took 15 hours.

At least a million devotees followed the ‘andas’ or the carriage that transported the revered image.

The movements for this year’s Traslacion were similar to 2020’s route as it passed along Katigbak Drive, Padre Burgos Street, Ayala Bridge, Palanca Street, Quezon Boulevard, Arlegui Street, Castillejos Street, Conception Aguila Street, Hidalgo through Plaza del Carmen, Bilibid Viejo through Gonzalo Puyat, under Quezon Bridge, and Villalobos through Plaza Miranda.

The carriage of Black Nazarene left the Quirino Grandstand at 4:45 a.m.

Quiapo Church Command Center said 657,000 believers immediately joined the religious procession at the Quirino Grandstand.

The number swelled to 833,000 as of 7:44 a.m. and to 1,340,000 a few hours later.

After the arrival of the Nazarene, Quiapo Church is set to resume its Fiesta Masses that were temporarily suspended as church authorities and devotees waited for the image.

These masses started at 3 p.m. on January 8.

2024 Traslacion is a long-awaited comeback as it was suspended for three consecutive years due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
