CEBU experienced some rainshowers in the past few days but  summer isn’t over yet, the state weather bureau Pagasa said.

Pagasa Mactan weather analyst Al Alcazar said they project  the rains to come at the end of May.

“Pat-ak, pat-ak lang na siya nga pag-ulan (The rains come and go),” he told Cebu Daily News.

Alcazar said the country is experiencing hot weather because of a  high pressure area.

“This is the opposite of a low pressure area. The weather is good and there are no typhoons,” he said.

Heat of  33.2 degrees experienced last month may rise in the coming days if the high pressure continues, said Alcazar.

That  was the highest recorded temperature in Cebu so far  this year.

He advised the public not to stay outdoors during peak hours of the sun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with few clouds to  block direct exposure.

Drink plenty of water and use sunscreen for longer periods outside, he said.

“The sky is so open because there are no clouds so it is advisable not to stay long under the  sun,” he said.

The heat could also trigger heat stroke, Alcazar warned. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
