Man stabbed in Mandaue

A 29-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed and wounded after he intervened in a fight between his nephew and a neighbor in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Wounded in the left side of the body was Pedro Golbe.

The suspect, Junrey Villarino, 21, a member of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, fled after the attack, said police.

Police said Golbe saw his nephew arguing with Villarino past 1 a.m. yesterday.

Police said fraternity rivalry may have caused the confrontation since Golbe’s nephew is a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity.

Golbe stepped in to stop the fight but Villarino allegedly drew an icepick and stabbed the victim.

Golbe was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital then moved to a hospital in Cebu City.

An operation to arrest the suspect is ongoing, said police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
