MAN NABBED FOR SHOPLIFTING
A MAN from Tagum City, Davao del Sur was arrested after he was allegedly caught shoplifting in a mall at the Mandaue Reclamation Area.
Police said Ranjan Basalo, 30, was caught by the store supervisor of James and Kate Shoe at Parkmall putting three pairs of branded shoes inside a bag, said police.
Each pair of shoes was worth P2,900. The incident happened around 1 p.m. last Friday.
Basalo was turned over to the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS) of the Mandaue City Police Office.
An ampule of Nubain was found in the man’s pocket, said Insp. Ramil Morpos, TRS chief.
Morpos said it was later learned that Basalo has a pending case in Manila for shoplifting.

LAPU EATERY RAZED
A FIRE razed an eatery in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
Alex Gabutan, owner of the eatery, said that past 5 a.m. Friday, he lit up a kerosene stove that he had just fixed but the stove exploded.
The fire quickly spread since the carenderia was made of light materilas.
Residents in the area helped put out the fire.
The fire was already contained when firefighters arrived.
