NDRRMOC to be on ‘blue alert’ for Traslacion 2024

MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (NDRRMOC) said on Friday that it will be on Blue Alert on January 7.
This is in preparation for the Traslacion 2024, or the annual procession of the Black Nazarene, on January 9.
“In preparation for the Traslacion 2024 on January 9, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (NDRRMOC) will raise its alert level status to BLUE Alert starting January 7,” the NRRMOC said in a statement.
A Blue Alert indicates that half of NDRRMOC will be on standby to assist in case of emergencies.
“Manned by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Operations Service personnel, heightened monitoring and close coordination with relevant agencies and uniformed services will be carried out by the NDRRMOC,” it added.
Article continues after this advertisementA team that will monitor the situation during the procession will also be headed by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the City of Manila.
Article continues after this advertisement“Meanwhile, an incident management team (IMT) headed by the Manila City DRRM Office will be activated on the ground to monitor the situation and manage incidents that may be encountered during the procession,” it continued.
The Traslacion 2024 is the first time the procession will be resumed after it was put on hold from 2021 to 2023 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
