NCCA opens nominations for persons worthy of being named national artists
MANILA, Philippines — National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) opened on Friday its nominations for the recognition of the Order of National Artists.
The Order is the highest national recognition that can be awarded to Filipinos who have made significant contributions in their field.
NCCA will honor artists in architecture and allied arts, dance, design, film and broadcast arts, literature, music, theater and visual arts.
Upon the recommendation of NCCA and Cultural Center of the Philippines, the President of the Philippines will confer the award to the selected individual.
The award can also be given posthumously.
Article continues after this advertisementLiving awardees will receive a minimum cash prize of P200,000, net taxes, a minimum lifetime personal monthly stipend of P50,000, medical and hospitalization benefits not exceeding P750,000 per year, among other incentives.

- A cover letter signed by the head or designated representative of the nominating organization (The cover letter must be accompanied by a Board Resolution approving the nominee with the resolution signed by the organization president and duly certified by the board secretary.)
- A duly accomplished notarized nomination form
- A detailed curriculum vitae of the nominee, including their address and contact details
- A list of the nominee’s significant works categorized according to the criteria
- The latest high-resolution photograph of the nominee, either 5″x7” (1500 x 2100 pixels) or 8”x11” (2550 x 3300 pixels)
- Video materials/documentation on the nominee’s significant works
- Copies of published reviews
- Any other document that may be required
- Curriculum vitae, e-mail and mobile number of a nominated Presenter who can discuss the qualifications of the nominee to the second and third deliberation panel (The nominated Presenter must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement if selected.)
“Nominations may be submitted by government and non-government cultural organizations, educational institutions, as well as private foundations and councils,” NCCA said.
The nominations will run until June 30.
