LUCENA CITY — Four persons died and 14 others were injured on Wednesday in two separate road crashes in Cavite province, police said.
The Region 4A police said in a report on Thursday, Jan. 4, that a van driven by alias “Jether” crashed into a roadside tree in Naic City around 4:30 a.m.
The driver and 14 of his passengers all suffered injuries and were taken to the General Emilio Aguinaldo Hospital for treatment.
However, three women passengers all surnamed “Vasquez” died, the police said.
The report said “Jether” fell asleep while driving, which resulted in the mishap.
In General Trias City, motorcyclist Armando Mission, 53, and his back-rider, Dorothy Mission, 49, were hit around 10:30 p.m. by an oncoming motorcycle driven by Cijhay Dilao, 26, along General Trias Drive in Barangay San Juan 2.
The three riders suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Divine Grace Medical Center in the locality, but Dilao died while on the way there.
Investigators said Dilao occupied the opposite lane while negotiating a curved section of the road, causing the collision.
