MANILA, Philippines — Devotees of the Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno (Black Nazarene) from Mindanao and other parts of the country were invited to join the “Traslacion” in Davao City on January 9 as part of the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The “Traslacion” is the procession of the life-size image of the Black Nazarene.

“We encourage all Dabawenyos, all devotees throughout Mindanao and other places to join with us in celebrating the Feast of the Poong Nazareno” the Davao Nazareno group said.

“All devotees are encouraged to bring their own personal Nazareno image during the procession and Fiesta Mass in order to be blessed by the priests,” it added.

The Davao Nazareno group also released details of the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

It will commence on December 31 with the “pabihis” or the changing of the image’s clothing at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel.

This will be followed by a novena mass at 6 p.m. at the same chapel.

The novena mass will be held at Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel from December 31 to January 5, 2024.

Meanwhile, from January 6 to 8, the masses will take place at San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish.

On the feast day, January 9, the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene will commence at 8 a.m., starting from the parish and returning to its sanctuary at Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel.

The procession will be followed by the Fiesta Mass at 10 a.m. and at 6 p.m.

In 2015, the Quiapo Church gave the Archdiocese of Davao a replica image of the Black Nazarene to spread the devotion in various parts of the country.

The image of the Black Nazarene was enshrined at Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel in Davao City which is within the jurisdiction of San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish.

Meanwhile, the Quiapo Church has released the schedule of activities and route for Traslacion 2024 in Manila.
