Mancio to defend title vs Cabilla at SRP
JERSON Mancio will make the first defense of his Philippine light flyweight title on May 15 against Charlie Cabilla of Bukidnon at the South Road Properties (SRP) grounds in Cebu City.
Mancio hails from Agusan del Sur and fights out of the ALA Gym of Cebu. He won the title last year in San Remigio, Cebu by unanimous decision against Jason Canoy of the Omega gym. Mancio (14W-3L-3D, 5 KOs) suffered back-to-back losses in Japan when he lost in his attempt to win the OPBF light flyweight title last Oct. 2011 against Ryo Miyazaki by 4th round knockout and lost on points to Junichi Ebisuoka last March.
The May 15 showdown marks the third meeting between Mancio and Cabilla. Four years ago, Mancio stopped Cabilla in four rounds in Cagayan de Oro and in 2010 they would engage in a 10-round split draw in Tagbilaran City.
Cabilla (12W-9L-4D, 2 KOs) also lost in his recent overseas outing in Thailand to Petch Sor Chitpattana.
Also set to fight on the undercards are Wilbeth Loberanis vs. Juan Purisima, Jimmy Paypa vs. Jerry Nardo, Zaldy Aroa vs. Gilbert Garciano, Pedro Balaba vs. Julie Agrabio and Sherwin Paro vs. Ricky Nunez.
The fight card is presented by ALA Promotions and fights start at 7 p.m.
