Phivolcs reports 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur

Just weeks after being hit by strong earthquakes, Surigao del Sur is bracing for the coming of 'Kabayan,' whose rains and winds have started to batter the province on Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines — Surigao del Sur was rocked by a 4.6 magnitude earthquake at 11:02 a.m. on Sunday, the state seismology bureau said.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), Intensity IV was felt in Hinatuan and the City of Bislig, while Intensity III was felt in the City of Bislig.

Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensity II was felt in Bislig, and Intensity I was felt in Tandag.

Phivolcs said no damages nor aftershocks are expected, and that this earthquake was an aftershock of the magnitude 7.4 earthquake on December 2.

Aside from the magnitude 4.6 earthquake, the province was also rocked by multiple mild earthquakes ranging from magnitude 1.8 to 3.1.
