DSWD gives aid to families affected by fire in Lapu-Lapu City
MANILA, Philippines — The DSWD on Friday gave relief packs to families who were affected by a fire in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu last December 12.
According to the DSWD, it has given out more than P15.9 million worth of cash, food, and non-food items to 2,202 families who are staying in two evacuation centers.
“We are still in close coordination with the LGU of Lapu-Lapu City and assured them that the agency is prepared to deliver more augmentation support to the affected families upon assessment and request,” DSWD Field Office 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero said.
“Among the assistance provided were family food packs, cash aid, and non-food items such as sleeping kits,” she added.
The DSWD added that it gave families whose houses were totally damaged P10,530 each, while those with partially damaged houses received P5,265 each.
According to authorities, 581 houses were damaged in the fire, of which 577 were totally damaged and four were partially damaged.
