700 patients in Compostela avail of free medical services
About 700 indigent residents of barangay Estaca, Compostela town in northern Cebu availed of free surgical (circumcision and excision of cysts), dental and optical mission initiated by the Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko Foundation Inc. Cebu last April 15.
Free outreach services were provided, such as free eyeglasses to 180 patients, dental services with free medicines to 123 residents, circumcision and medicines to 76 children, minor surgery and antibiotics to 13 patients and diagnostic procedures like blood typing, random blood sugar testing, hemoglobin determination and hepatitis B surface antigen determination to 234 patients. Prostate screenings were also performed on 36 men in their 50s.
The services were rendered by the volunteers of Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko composed of social workers, nurses, medical technologists, dentists, medical doctors and other health care professionals.
The whole day event was sponsored by Hardwares Consolidated Inc., led by its president, Jaime Sy, and Arthur Lim, socio-civic committee chairman.
It was also supported by the local government unit of Estaca in Compostela, Cebu City Medical Center Surgery Department, Cebu Blood Donors Society, Coast Guard District Central Visayas and the Philippine Urological Association Central and Eastern Visayas chapter.
