Cocaine worth P2.6M found on Quezon shore

LUCENA CITY – At least P2.6 million worth of suspected cocaine was found Friday along the shoreline of Mauban town in Quezon province.
The Police Region 4A, said in a report on Saturday, Dec. 23, that a resident Emilio Geriba, found around noon a transparent plastic that contained a white substance believed to be cocaine along the shore of Barangay San Lorenzo.
Geriba immediately brought the item to the police, who contacted the PRO-4A Drug Enforcement Group for proper disposition of the recovered illegal drugs.
The report said the alleged cocaine weighed 500 grams and had an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P2,650,000.
In February and July 2019, at least eight kilograms of high-grade cocaine were recovered on the shore of Mauban facing Lamon Bay.
In April 2018, fishermen from the island town of Perez, also in Lamon Bay in the Pacific Ocean, found 28 kilos of cocaine worth P280 million, and 16.5 liters of a liquid chemical that could make about 13 kilos of shabu (crystal meth) worth P130 million.
Police have tagged northern Quezon, particularly the island municipalities of Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Jomali,g and Patnanungan, all facing the Pacific Ocean, as critical watch points and placed personnel in the areas to prevent the entry of illegal contraband particularly illegal drugs.
