Cebu Bloggers set Assembly

THE Cebu Bloggers Society Inc. (CBSi) will hold its third general assembly on May 5 at the Diamond Suites and Residences in Cebu City.

The annual general assembly will highlight the organization’s progress in the past year.

The election of CBSi’s new officers and members of the board of trustees will also be conducted on the same day.

The event will also observe a post-World Bloggers Day program themed “It’s more fun in blogging and social media,” in which the organization has recently hosted and celebrated online via social media and its official website www.worldbloggersday.org.

The winners of the recently-held World Bloggers’ Day 2012 blogging contest will be announced during the general assembly.

The culminating activity will be held at Amnezia Superclub in North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City.

Labor relations seminar

A POWERHOUSE of speakers will deliver relevant topics at the “Strengths and weaknesses of current labor practices” seminar sponsored by the Association of Accredited Voluntary Arbitrators of Central Visayas Inc.

The seminar, which will be held at the Sinulog Hall of Rizal Memorial Library and Museum on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City on May 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., is co-sponsored by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council of Cebu City, in coordination with the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) of the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7).

Topics include labor insourcing and outsourcing and its implications by DOLE-7 Director Gloria Tango, trends and issues on unionism by lawyer Armando Alforque, alternative dispute resolution approach for grievance by lawyer Manuel Monzon and women in the workplace and their contribution by labor arbiter Jermelina Ay-ad.

The seminar fee is P1,200, inclusive of handouts, food and drinks and certificate of participation.

Discounts will be given to those who register on or before May 10.
