PILAR, Bataan — The little less than a kilometer flyover in the Alauli Junction on Roman Superhighway in Pilar town, Bataan province was opened to traffic on Saturday morning, December 16.

The opening of the short flyover came amid complaints from motorists that the area has become a bottleneck and accident-prone.

Bataan Second District Rep. Albert Garcia said that aside from trying to minimize the number of road accidents in the area, the two-lane flyover is in preparation for the completion of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge.

“We are after safety and efficiency for our motorists and tourists who come in drove during summer time to satisfy their cravings for beautiful beaches and resorts in Bagac and Morong towns,” Garcia said. The Alauli Junction is known as an accident-prone area in Bataan.

Built for P150 million with local funds and superstructure materials supplied by French assistance, the flyover construction was started on January 4, 2022.

The project now serves incoming and outgoing traffic to and from the heart of historic Pilar town to neighboring towns and urban centers and lessening the travel time and costs both of motorists and public in general.

Garcia said more flyovers are scheduled for construction in Bataan.
