MANILA, Philippines — The Senate ratified on Wednesday evening the bicameral conference committee report on the disagreeing provisions of Senate Bill No. 2426 and House Bill No. 8525, both of which cover the Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino Act).

In a plenary session, Sen. Sonny Angara said the bicam committee made amendments to Sections 4, 8, 8B, and 17 of the reconciled report.

Due to the “lateness of the hour,” Angara did not detail the specific changes that the committee made. With no objections from lawmakers present at the hall, the Senate approved and ratified the proposed Proudly Filipino Act.

Once the bill is signed into law, the creation of a Tatay Pinoy Council will be pushed. This group will serve as the policy and advisory body to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

It will also be tasked with formulating policies and programs that will “diversify the productive capabilities of domestic enterprises and increase the country’s economic complexity.”
