Quezon City will give free rides during two-day transport strike

MANILA, Philippines – The Quezon City government will give free rides on its Q City Bus to commuters who will be affected by a transport strike set for Dec. 14 and 15.

On Tuesday, the transport group Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide or Piston announced its transport strike to protest the Dec. 31 deadline for the consolidation of traditional jeepneys.

The city will likewise deploy extra buses for other routes to serve stranded passengers.

“Free rides will also be given to the General Services Department, Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), and Quezon City Police District (QCPD),” the city said in Filipino in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
