87 candidates in 2023 barangay, SK polls disqualified so far

Comelec suspends proclamation of 92 BSKE winners

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 87 candidates in the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) have so far been disqualified, according to a list posted on Monday by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on its Facebook page.

According to the Comelec, seven of these candidates were disqualified in December — five for premature campaigning, one for vote-buying and premature campaigning, and one for having been removed from office due to an administrative case.

“It is expected that the number of disqualified candidates may increase before the year ends,” Comelec said.
