MANILA, Philippines —  The Isabela Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) on Friday confirmed the successful retrieval of the remains of the pilot of a light plane that crashed in San Mariano.

“Around 3:30 pm, the Sokol helicopter carrying the remains of the pilot landed at TOG2 (Tactical Operations Group 2 in Cauayan, Isabela,” the Isabela DRRMO’s incident management team said in an advisory.

The pilot’s body was found last Wednesday in the crash site of the Piper 32-type aircraft.

The passenger of the ill-fated aircraft remains missing.

The DRRMO said that makeshift shelter near wreckage indicates that the passenger may have survived the crash.

A K9 tracker team is set to be flown to the crash site on Saturday to track the missing passenger.

The aircraft went missing on November 30, after departing from Cauayan Airport at 9:39 a.m.
