Body of pilot in Isabela plane crash found; passenger missing
MANILA, Philippines — The body of the pilot of a light aircraft that crashed in San Mariano, Isabela, last November 30 was found Thursday morning by the 11-man search and rescue team, according to Isabela’s Incident Management Team (IMT).
The IMT-Isabela, in a statement, said rescuers reached the Piper aircraft’s wreckage at around 11 a.m.
“Sadly, the pilot was found lifeless. The lone passenger was not found in the vicinity. However, she appears to have survived the crash as indicated by a makeshift shelter that she presumably put up near the wreckage,” IMT said.
If weather permits, IMT said it will bring the pilot’s remains to Tactical Operations Group 2 in Cauayan City via a helicopter on Friday.
It added that K9 teams will be sent to the crash site to search for missing passenger.
