Only 6 of 50 injured in Marawi blast remain in hospital – PNP

MANILA, Philippines — Most of the victims injured during the deadly bomb attack at Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City last Dec. 3 are already out of the hospital, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The blast, which occurred during a morning Mass, killed four people and injured 50 others. Of the wounded victims, only six remain at the Amai Pak-Pak Medical Center, the PNP spokesperson, Col. Jean Fajardo, said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

“Only six remain in the hospital. They are still recovering but are in stable condition as we speak,” Fajardo said in Filipino.

Meanwhile, the injured and relatives of those who died in the blast have received cash aid of P25,000 each from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The aid is part of the MSSD’s Bangsamoro Critical Assistance for Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (B-CARES) program.

On the day of the attack, three patients already received P7,000 in financial aid, while the families of two of the four who died received P50,000 each from the MSSD.

On the part of the PNP, Fajardo said the BARMM Police Regional Office would stay on full alert.

Fajardo also urged the public for help in locating the two suspects in the case, identified as Kadapi Mimbesa, alias “Engineer,” and Arsani Membisa, who has three aliases – “Lapitos,” “Khatab,” and “Hatab.”

According to her, the two are members of the Maute Group under the Daulah Islamiyah.
