Woman arrested at Naia for P67 million shabu package

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested after claiming a parcel containing over P67 million worth of suspected methamphetamine or “shabu” at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) in Pasay City on Tuesday evening.

In a report on Wednesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the 40-year-old suspect as Gayzel Sabile, who was collared during an interdiction operation at the airport complex around 7:10 p.m.

PDEA said Sabile’s arrest came after its operatives, along with the Naia-Inter Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, discovered a parcel containing 9,898 grams of shabu amounting to P67,306,400 at the airport’s Pair-Pags Center.

It added that the parcel labeled “spare parts” was addressed to Sabile and came from an unnamed sender in Maputo, Mozambique, in East Africa.
