Pagasa predicts warm weather with light rains on Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines – Warm weather with chances of isolated rain showers will prevail in many parts of the country on Wednesday, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In an early morning report, specialist Aldczar Aurelio said easterlies and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will still be affecting the country, but generally fair weather may be expected, with some light rainfall, in several areas in Luzon.

Easterlies refer to winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, which bring warm and humid weather.

“Maganda at maaliwalas na panahon ang inaasahan natin ngayon sa Luzon maliban na lang po sa mga isolated na mahinang pag-ulan sa Batanes at sa Babuyan Islands, dulot po yan ng northeast monsoon,” Aurelio noted.

For the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, the weather specialist reported isolated rain showers may also be expected due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, in Visayas and Mindanao, the easterlies are expected to bring overcast skies with scattered rain showers in Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao region, Bohol, and Lanao del Sur.

Aurelio advised residents in the areas that will be dampened by rainfall to be cautious of possible flooding and landslides.

“In the remaining parts of Visayas and Mindanao, we can expect fair or pleasant weather, except for isolated rain showers caused by thunderstorms,” he said in Filipino.

Pagasa did not issue a gale warning along the country’s seaboards.
