MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and isolated rains will prevail over many parts of the country on Tuesday because of easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said in an early morning public forecast that the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, has no effect on the country for now. He said, however, that easterlies will continue to bring overcast skies with chances of rainfall in most parts of Luzon.

Today, easterlies will be present in large parts of Luzon, so there will still be partly cloudy to cloudy skies, especially here in the eastern part.,” Estareja said in Filipino.

Cloudy skies with rain showers, especially in the morning until the afternoon, were also predicted to happen in the Bicol Region because of easterlies.

Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) are also likely to be dampened by isolated rain showers on Tuesday, according to Estareja.

But warm weather is expected to prevail in western Luzon, including Metro Manila, where temperatures could reach a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius.

Visayas will also experience generally the same weather conditions, with cloudy skies and isolated rain showers expected to occur, especially in its eastern part.

“To our fellow citizens in Visayas, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail, accompanied by isolated showers, especially in the eastern portion by the afternoon due to easterlies,” the weather specialist said in Filipino.

“Meanwhile, in Mindanao, generally partly cloudy skies will also prevail, accompanied by brief periods of rain or thunderstorms, particularly in the Caraga and Davao regions also caused by easterlies,” he added.

The state weather bureau explained it is not monitoring any weather disturbance that will enter the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.

Further, Pagasa said, no gale warning is in effect along the country’s seaboards.
