MANILA, Philippines — A 21-year-old driver who went viral through a social media video for defying traffic enforcers was arrested in Quezon City, the police said on Wednesday.

In a report, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the driver as James Vincent Ortega, who reportedly confronted and assaulted a group of traffic enforcers.

According to QCPD, an argument happened after the enforcers flagged Ortega’s motorcycle in front of a school on Gen. Luis Street, Barangay Nova Proper, in Novaliches and issued an ordinance violation receipt against him since his pillion rider was not wearing a helmet.

Shortly after the commotion, the enforcers sought the assistance of the Novaliches Police Station’s operatives, who arrested the suspect.

Ortega will be sued for direct assault, resistance, and disobedience to a person in authority at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
