MANILA, Philippines — The philippine government and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) have reached a tentative agreement to seek a peaceful resolution to armed conflict again.

This development was announced by Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday.

Dubbed the Oslo Joint Communique, the agreement between the two parties stated they recognized the root issues of the armed conflict.

“The parties agree to a principled and peaceful resolution of the armed conflict,” the accord indicated.

“Resolving the roots of the armed conflict and ending the armed struggle shall pave the way for the transformation of the CPP-NPA-NDFP,” said the Communique.

Galvez admitted, however, that the agreement had no immediate effect, as preliminary talks have just begun.

All operations of the NDFP would continue, he said.

Galves read the communique to the media in Malacañang.

He was joined by high-ranking government officials like Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

Galvez recalled the joint statement was drawn from informal engagements with NDFP that began in the Netherlands and Norway in 2022.
