Agriculture dep’t winds up activities for ‘organic agriculture month’

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Agriculture (DA) concluded the observance of Ninth Organic Agriculture (OA) month this November.

Themed ‘Kabuhayang OA, Kinabukasang OK,’ DA said a ceremony to promote farmers’ produce took place at Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong city last Sunday, November 26.

The project is participated by DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service.

According to National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP), the expo offered organic rice, organic coffee, organic condiments, and fresh produce.

DA noted activities such as organic fairs, webinar series, and livelihood programs, were held nationwide to promote organic agriculture.

The initiative is meant to raise awareness on the economic benefits of organic farming.

Under Presidential Proclamation Number 1030 issued in 2015, November is called the ‘OA’ month or period for fostering organic agriculture.
