Northern Samar flood evacuees back home
MANILA, Philippines — Almost all Northern Samar residents displaced by the massive flooding due to heavy rains in the province have returned to their homes, according to a local official on Monday.
“Siguro 98 percent na ng kababayan natin na sa kanilang mga bahay na, out of more than nearly 95 percent ng families natin is affected throughout the province,” said Josh Echano, head of the Northern Samar Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
(Around 98 percent of affected residents are back home, out of the more than nearly 95 percent of our families that were affected.)
Speaking at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing, Echano said that the national government was also able to extend aid in the province.
A total of 110,000 food packs from the national government were distributed among the families, on top of the aid from the provincial government, said Echano.
