NDRRMC: 2 dead due to effects of shear line
MANILA, Philippines — Two people were reported to have died due to the effects of the shear line, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) situational report on Friday.
The NDRRMC said these fatalities are still being validated.
A person was also reported to be injured.
There were also 209 partially damaged houses due to the weather system, while 44 houses were totally destroyed.
A total of 224,977 families or 879,425 persons were affected by the shear line.
Article continues after this advertisementRains are expected to continue in several parts of the country Friday due to shear line as well as northeast monsoon or amihan and the easterlies, according to the state weather bureau.
Amihan refers to the cold winds blowing from Siberia, while easterlies means the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
The shear line is commonly defined as the convergence of these cold and warm winds.
