LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died while two others were injured after they accidentally bumped into a parked truck in Infanta town in Quezon province on Saturday night (November 25) police said.

Security guard Angelo Peñaojas, 33 (driver), and his two pillion riders, Rosalie Rutaquio, 33, and “Rio”, a minor male, were negotiating the national highway when their vehicle slammed into a barrier and the rear section of a parked truck in Barangay (village) Abiawin around 9 p.m., a report from Quezon police said.

The three victims were taken to the Claro M Recto District Hospital in the town center but Peñaojas died along the way. The two back-riders were still undergoing treatment at the said hospital.

The report did not specify if the parked truck, which encountered a problem with its clutch, had an early warning device to alarm approaching vehicles.
