MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District will dispatch 25 vehicles within its covered areas to aid commuters affected by the upcoming three-day transport strike on Monday, according to its chief, Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan.

Maranan on Sunday said they will deploy these vehicles in strategic locations within Quezon City, which a team of officers will operate.

“In light of the impending transport strike, the QCPD force is ready to provide a helping hand to our fellow QCitizens. We understand the challenges they may face in reaching their destinations, and we want to alleviate that burden by offering free rides during this period of disruption,” the chief said in a statement.

Below is the list of areas where the vehicles will be accessible:

  • Quirino Highway Land Transportation Office to Quirino Hill Top
  • Quezon Avenue to Munoz; QH-Tandang Sora to QH-Minda;
  • Tandang Sora to Minda;
  • Novaliches Bayan to Mindanao Avenue corner Quirino Highway
  • Sta. Lucia/Community Regalado
  • P. Tuazon Boulevard to 20th Avenue
  • Edsa Kamias to Projects 2 and 3
  • Ermin/Edsa; QA/Roces; QA/Borromeo
  • Edsa/QA; Matalino/Matatag
  • Gates 1 and 2, QC Hall
  • Commonwealth corner Tandang Sora

Aside from the vehicles, Maranan said QCPD personnel will also conduct foot, mobile, and motorcycle patrols and install checkpoints in various parts of the city to prevent the proliferation of illegal activities during the strike.

Last November 15, transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) announced its plan to conduct a three-day strike nationwide in protest of the December 31 deadline for the consolidation of traditional public utility jeepneys.
