LEGAZPI CITY – In-person classes in some areas in the Albay province were suspended in anticipation of the three-day nationwide strike which starts Monday, November 20.
Classes at all levels in private and public schools in Daraga and Guinobatan shall shift to a blended mode of learning, modular or online, the municipal governments announced Sunday, November 19. The announcements said the suspension remains until lifted by the town governments.
In Camalig town, Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr. also ordered suspension of classes at all levels in public and private schools, but did not specify if it would be conducted online.
In Legazpi City, Bicol University ordered to conduct synchronous and asynchronous classes at all levels, while shuttle services would be given to the office personnel.
The University of Santo Tomas – Legazpi and the Divine Word College of Legazpi also announced that classes would be conducted online until Wednesday, November 22, or at the end of the transport strike but work in offices would not be suspended.
Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) will lead the three-day transport strike. Some 100,000 members of the transport group and their local federations will participate in the transport strike which aims to express their concerns over a government plan to upgrade the public transportation sector.
