MANILA, Philippines — Around 250 vehicles will be deployed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) across the National Capital Region (NCR) to provide free rides to passengers who will be affected by the three-day transport strike starting Monday.

In a statement released on Sunday, the board said that the free rides are expected to benefit an estimated 10,000 passengers per trip.

The vehicles that will be deployed include trucks, buses, patrol cars, and electric tricycles.

“Despite challenges, the LTFRB remains optimistic for a constructive dialogue with Piston’s participation in the PUV Modernization Program, as 60% of the transport groups have expressed their support for this initiative,” said the LTFRB.

Below are the routes expected to be affected by the transport strike:

  1. Novaliches-Malinta (along Gen. Luis)
  2. Shelter Ville-Novaliches

Transport group Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) on Wednesday announced a three-day nationwide strike starting Monday, November 20.

However, in a message sent to reporters, LTFRB said that the Department of Transportation “remains firm” with the December 31 deadline for the consolidation of utility jeepneys.
