GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A couple was killed when a concrete wall collapsed on their shanty when a magnitude 6.8 earthquake jolted parts of Mindanao Friday afternoon.

Police identified the fatalities as Danny Ginung, 26, and his partner, Jane Ginung, 18, both from Barangay Sinawal.

Both are employees of Amadeo Pathwoods in Barangay San Isidro here.

Capt. Danny Balofiños, officer in charge of Police Station 4, said the couple’s shanty was built beside the concrete wall of the Amadeo compound that collapsed.

Local authorities are still verifying other reported deaths due to the earthquake.

Local media have reported  scores of people seeking medical attention due to hyperventilation, dizziness and psychological shock.
