Bongbong Marcos puts in place 6-year plan for population management

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ordered a long-term plan for the country’s population, according to Malacañang on Friday.

In Memorandum Circular (MC) Number 40, Palace approved the Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA) in line with the Marcos administration’s six-year Philippine Development Plan (PDP).

“In accordance with their respective mandates, all concerned government agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or controlled corporations are hereby directed, and all LGUs are hereby encouraged, to undertake efforts in support of the implementation of the PDP–POA 2023-2028 and the plans and programs specified therein,” said the MC.

According to Palace, PDP–POA was created by the Commission on Population and Development.

The commission will serve as the lead agency for the plan.

The MC takes effect immediately, said Palace.
