LEGAZPI CITY — In-person classes at all levels in public and private schools in Camarines Norte and Albay were suspended on Tuesday, Nov. 14, due to the threat of flooding and landslides brought by heavy rains.
Camarines Norte Gov, Ricarte Padilla, in an advisory, told the local government units in the province to implement localized pre-emptive evacuation in high-risk areas alongside the class suspension.
In Albay, most of the towns suspended classes due to heavy rainfall which had been pouring since Monday afternoon.
Alvin Cuz, the disaster risk reduction and management coordinator of Department of Education Albay division, said classes were suspended in Guinobatan, Camalig, Daraga, Polangui, Libon, Bacacay, Sto. Domingo, Oas, Pioduran, Malilipot, and Jovellar.
Separate suspensions were also ordered in the cities of Legazpi, Tabaco, and Ligao, all in Albay.
In Libon, motorists were advised to take alternative routes after some roads in the villages of Paclas, Ologon, and Bulusan were flooded.
Village officials were advised to monitor the situation, particularly the areas vulnerable to landslide and flooding.
