MANILA, Philippines — Police are now zeroing in on the new testimonies from the family of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon.
The testimonies supposedly revealed an alleged affair between her and Police Major Allan De Castro.
Screenshots of online conversations between the two showed Camilon was physically abused.
She had also told De Castro’s wife that he was having an affair.
The two pieces of information were revealed by Philippine National Police (PNP) – Criminal Investigation Field Unit – Calabarzon chief Colonel Jacinto Malinao said on Tuesday.
“Dun po sa text conversation, yung exchange of messages between Cath at ng pulis, mababasa po dun na minsan ay nasaktan si Catherine,” Malinao disclosed in an interview over Radyo 630.
(Based on the exchanges of messages between the victim and the police officer, it appears that Catherine was physically abused.)
“Pangalawa ay medyo ikinagalit ata na nagsumbong itong si Catherine sa asawa ng suspect natin, si Major Allan De Castro, na sinabihan ng biktima na may babae ito,” he divulged.
(Second, De Castro was pissed after she told his wife that he was having an affair.)
“Yun ang nakikita na pinakamalapit na motive that prompted this incident,” Malinao said.
(That’s the closest motive we see that prompted this incident.)
In previous interviews and reports, Camilon’s mother, Rosario, initially said her daughter had no known boyfriend or enemies.
She likewise denied De Castro’s purported romantic relationship with the beauty queen.
However, Malinao revealed Rosario and the victim’s sister, Chin Chin, changed their statements.
They provided evidence to support their new testimonies, after some women investigators talked with them again in Tuy, Batangas.
“Base sa statement ng nanay ito (De Castro), ang katatagpuin ni Catherine, yung allegedly boyfriend na si Major Allan De Castro,” Malinao said.
(Based on her mother’s statement, the one that Catherine would meet was that alleged boyfriend who was De Castro.)
“Yan din po ay sinuportahan ng statement ng kapatid na si Chin Chin Camilon. Ganun din po ang statement ng kaibigan ng beauty queen na si Vanessa,” the police official added.
(That was also supported by her sister Chin Chin’s statement. That was also the statement of the beauty queen’s friend who was Vanessa.)
On Monday, PNP filed complaints of kidnapping and serious illegal detention against De Castro, his driver Jeffrey Arreola Magpantay, and two other “John Does” or unidentified persons.
