MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily suspend excavation activities on all Metro Manila national and city roads from November 13 to January 8, 2024.
The suspension is in preparation for the surge of vehicles during the Christmas season.
“Epektibo Lunes, Nobyembre 13 hanggang Enero 8 sa susunod na taon, tigil muna ang mga excavation activities para sa road reblocking, pipe laying, road upgrading, at iba pang excavation works,” said MMDA in a social media post on Saturday.
(Effective Monday, November 13 to January 8 next year, excavation activities for road reblocking, pipe laying, road upgrading, and other excavation works will temporarily stop.)
The following road projects are exempted from the suspension:
- Flagship projects of government
- Department of Public Works and Highways bridge repair and construction
- Flood interceptor catchment project (box culvert)
- Asphalt overlay projects without reblocking works
- Sidewalk improvement
- Drainage improvement projects along the sidewalk and not occupying any part of the roadway
- Footbridge projects
- Emergency leak repair or breakage of water line of Manila Water Company and Maynilad Water Services Incorporated
- New water service or electrical service connections
- Road activities without excavation (traffic clearance only)
- Meralco relocation works affecting major projects of government
- Other projects, as may be allowed by MMDA upon due application
